Rachel Keller is a fictionalized character in The Ring movie series. The character was invented by writer and producer Ehren Kruger, and played by Naomi Watts, serves as the protagonist of The Ring and The Ring Two which share a number of similarities with Reiko Asakawa from the first Japanese films.Introduced in 2002's film, Rachel is an investigative journalist, who must find how to avoid the death penalty after viewing a cursed video tape that she discovered while investigating the murder of her niece. Rachel must investigate the life of Samara Morgan who is her son, in The Ring Two. Ruth Rachel's sister is adamant Rachel to inquire into the mysterious reasons behind Katie's sudden demise.
