Garena launched its Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, a 6 month professional gaming league that includes over 100 online matches. GPL's debut season will feature six teams of experienced League of Legends players. Each team is comprised of the top players in their countries. GPL matches are captured and broadcast online along with the commentary. These are available for viewers to enjoy on GPL's official website. GPL official website In January 2013 Garena released the 2nd seasons of Garena Premier League, which will begin on January 4th, 2013. Garena Premier League 2013, which began on 4 January 2013, will include two teams that are each from Taiwan as well as Vietnam. This brings the total number of teams to eight. Teams include: AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok), Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) and Manila Eagles(Manila) The Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. The Garena E-Sports Arena, an esports venue is a venue that was inaugurated in November of 2014 in the Neihu District of Taipei. This studio was partly built to house events like the League of Legends Masters Series which is the top-of-the-line LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league, which was an offshoot of GPL. The first month of January in 2015, Garena launched Iron Solari League an all-women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. It's a monthly tournament that is held during the second quarter of every month. The event is meant to increase participation for those who are underrepresented, and is accessible to all who identify as female. Garena is not only a tournament organizer but also organizes offline gatherings as well as events which allow participants to connect.
